Ffion Taverner is an artist who specialises in Natural Dyes which are often sourced from her surroundings in rural Wales and most recently in The Netherlands.
Having completed an Instructional Artist Residency specialising in Natural Dyes with Arquetopia in Peru 2019 which delved into the tradition of colour within Peruvian culture she has gone to deepen her knowledge of natural colour in The Netherlands. She has been running the dye studio and gardening at Studio Claudy Jongstra.
Working within such a slow medium creates an open-ended relationship to each ingredient sourced. She reads nature through colour, allowing her curiosity to forage and collect material; cooking up experimentation. Natural colour has incredible depth, working with historical natural dye plants and various local plants, this depth is portrayed with an embedded connection to the natural world.
